Planning EV charging for a commercial property
Adding chargers is easy. Adding them without overloading your supply takes planning. A practical checklist for property owners and facility managers.

Tenants, employees and visitors increasingly expect somewhere to charge. For property owners, the challenge isn’t the charger itself — it’s making sure your electrical infrastructure can support it safely, today and as demand grows.
Start with capacity
Every charger adds load. Before choosing hardware, assess your sanctioned load, transformer capacity and existing panel headroom. This tells you how many chargers you can add now and what upgrades future expansion would need.
A practical checklist
- Assess available capacity at the transformer and main panels.
- Decide on charger types: AC for longer dwell times, DC for quick top-ups.
- Plan dedicated circuits, protection and earthing for each charger.
- Choose locations with sensible cable routes and user access.
- Consider integrating rooftop solar to offset daytime charging.
- Leave room for expansion in cable sizing and panel space.
Install once, install right
Charging infrastructure built with proper load planning is safer, cheaper to expand and less likely to trip under real-world use. We handle assessment, installation, testing and commissioning under one roof.
